Hey Look she posted

*Waves at the hotties*

I realized yesterday that today February 28 would have been my Moms 65 Birthday.
What better excuse to get my butt back to the blogging that I love?

So I did a special manicure for my mommy
From Nubar's Jellybeans collection I used Strawberry, With Cherry on my middle finger with White Polk a Dot from the Polk a Dot collection and some of my favorite nail decals from a billion different sets.

This is my Mom...isn't she pretty!
Strawberry is a sweet pink that you can wear as a jelly or build it to opaque. Cherry is a super squishy almost jelly cherry red, I love it insanely! And the Polk a dots.....Oh do not get me started I love them so much and since the glitter is not intended to cover but to dot they are not bad to remove.
My Mom was the very best! Funny (That is me in the pillow case or as I called it sack of potatoes)
The biggest heart ever, willing to help anyone anytime, friend or stranger she never questioned but was always the first to help and never expected anything it's just how she was.
Nubar has a great formula and is one of the few creme formulas that I really love.
This is how I will always remember my Mom...like a big kid! I was far too serious and she would not have it so she would force me to smile or laugh. (Seriously my sisters hair omg, even for the 80's that was just wow)
The Jellybeans are perfectly named because I want to nom my nails....I must get jellybeans!
Mom and Me...she attacked me and was holding me hostage for the eviiiiiil taking of pictures!
(My cousin was hiding behind me holding my arms and Grandma was fast with the camera)
Have you gotten the Jellybeans or the Polk a dots? Which are you loving?
My Mom, the silliest beauty queen ever, passed at the very young age of 48 (I was 21) of a sudden Heart attack. Her crappy doctors ignored the symptoms she called with the day before, ear/jaw pain, dizziness, nausea,  muscle pain and weakness, headache, and vomiting, She had very high blood pressure uncontrolled even with 3 medications. Ladies know our symptoms, most women do not know that women's symptoms are usually not the typical symptoms that men have. and if you have high blood pressure and it is not being controlled find a new doctor or insist on seeing a specialist because you ARE worth it and if you don't take care of you who will? Smooches!

Happy 65th Birthday Mom!

Dark Angel and her Stardust

I received the sweetest RAOK (random act of kindness)
a couple of weeks ago from Jennifer of The Polished Pirate Blog, she sent me a little pretty that's been on my wishlist for a while....MAC's Dark Angel! YAY I know the color isn't anything all that unique and I'm not big on MAC's formula but I NEEDED this one because of the name....it was meant to be mine! Thank you so much Jennifer, I love it and it sits in a place of honor in my polish closet.
What you thought I would do a normal manicure? Not happening!
I added Best Nail Treatments Stardust glitter to the very tips and my ring finger
I love this! The dark blackened purple of Dark Angel contrasts perfect with BNT teal glitter of Stardust
This is the most color accurate picture
MAC's formula still blows, it's streaky, drags and shrinks weird at the cuticle but the color is beautiful.
BNT Stardust is nearly full coverage in one coat and it dries so fast and the glitter is very fine so it's not bumpy once you put top coat on. (It also is a pita to remove therefore wears like teflon coated iron wearing a bullet-proof vest)
I could stare at this all day!

OPI has got THE Blues

I had the urge for blue the other day so I grabbed
Nicole by OPI It's not me it's Blue and OPI Road house Blues from the Touring America Collection
I was feeling polk a doty so I played with contrasting dots on all my fingers
I just used my smallest dotting tool and got a little random
Hmmmm....My ring finger has dots of It's not me it's blue all the way up the outer side but the lighting makes it hard to tel. :o(
I love how this turned out, it's subtle but fun
Road House Blues is a beautiful deep blue cream and It's not me it's blue looks purple in the bottle but once on the nail you see the blue base with silver and pink metallic shimmer. Both are gorgeous and great formula's
I think these two blues are perfect together.
You can't possibly feel blue wearing these!
P.S. Just a note to say when I removed this I had NO smurf murder hands and not a bit of staining!

Vieux Carre OPI - A French Quarter for your thoughts

Vieux Carre  is creole, it means the old quarter (referring to the French Quarter)
Hubby being a NOLA boy reacted to the color with "why is it gray". lol
If you've ever been to New Orleans Louisiana then you know why
he found it odd, all of New Orleans is so full of color it's almost too much, but not.
I think it's intended more to be the beautiful old stone work buildings and the famous cemeteries that
this color is representing. I like it no matter.
French Quarter for your thoughts is a nice granite gray creme from the OPI touring America collection

And when I mentioned the French Quarter Hello Kitty insisted on coming along
( the fabulous HK decals were sent to me by my sweetheart Jerlene aka MusicalHouses from a funtabulous Blog- Of Faces and Fingers )
And to compliment HK I took a tiny bit of clear polish in a mixing cup and added a tiny bit of my Beach Party eyeshadow and did the very tips plus my ring finger over FQfyT.
The formula is very nice and smooth with good pigment so it is very nearly opaque on the first coat
I can't say that this is unique but if you are looking for a nice gray I would recommend picking this up because the formula is a bit better than several grays I have.
Thank you Jerlene for the Hello Kitty decals, they are almost as adorable and sweet as you!

Do we have our favorites from this collection yet? I have a couple but I'm not absolute on my must haves yet.

OPI Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides - Planks A Lot

Planks a Lot is a sweet dusty blue based purple creme
and this little pink kitty wandered onto my nails
(Thank you Kim)
This is 2 thin coats. The formula is fabulous, smooth, no drag or patchiness.
This is much more opaque then I expected, almost a one coater. Love it tons!
Kitty loves it too
(You can get the cute decals here )
Planks a Lot for reading! lol

Shattered Mermaid's Tears

This combo just screamed out to me!
OPI Turquoise Shatter, from the Blue Shatters collection, and Mermaid's Tears, from The Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides collection.
I am loving both collections so much!
I used 2 coats of Mermaid's Tears, 1 coat of seche Vite, then one coat of Turquoise Shatter and 1 more coat of SV.
I had to leave at least one nail showing mostly Mermaid's Tears.
Mermaid's Tears is a perfect dusty sea foam green creme with the most perfect formula.
Turquoise Shatter is my favorite shade of turquoise with heavy green shimmer and applies fabulously!
My camera refused to take a color accurate picture of Turquoise shatter, it is a true turquoise and not nearly as blue as it shows on camera.

I'm going to have fun with these shatters!

Nubar Purple Aster & Evil Angel nail art

Nubar Purple Aster from the Spring Garden collection is a sweet pastel purple creme with a subtle secret shimmer. I added a little nail art using some SmArt nails image design templates and a beautiful franken from Kae ( TheHungryAsian ) that she made just for little ol me! XD
Isn't that the sweetest thing ever?!
Look at EvilAngel close up....so pretty!
Thank you Kae!
This is 2 coats of Nubar Purple Aster and 1 coat of Evil Angel on the tips
The formula on Purple Aster is great! Very even, smooth and not streaky
Evil Angel is dreamy, I need to do a full manicure of it!
Love the teal, pink and purple in EA
What do you think of my night sky ocean?

Orly Pinup collection - Coquette Cutie & Here Comes Trouble

I love both colors!
Coquette Cutie is a warm pink creme
Here Comes Trouble is a green glitter both micro and small hex glitter in a clear base
Here comes trouble applies like any glitter, you just need to be careful as glitter clean up is impossible!
This is 4 coats of HCT, over a green base you'd do fine with 1-2 coats.
Coquette cutie was awful, thick and goopy but yet after a few seconds on the nail it then ran down & pooled at and under my cuticles. I'm guessing I got a bad bottle because I've never had an Orly polish behave so badly! This is 3 coats. 2 would be good if it weren't so goopy and uneven.

I love both colors, they are perfect for summer!
Click to enlarge this one...the hex glitter in HCT is so pretty!

Nubar Spring Garden Collection- Blue Hydrangea & Baby Sprout

I'm a day late but this is also my Autism awareness mani for this week
Blue Hydrangea is a soft pastel blue with a very subtle secret silver shimmer
Baby sprout is a super mutes pastel green also with a secret shimmer
In most pictures these will look like plain cremes but if you look closely and most definitely in person
you can see a very subtle silvery shimmer...if you aren't a shimmer person, these are the shimmers you could love!
I just had to do something fun with these so a color alternating freehand frenchy was obviously perfect
These are a bit thick...pastels are always either thick or thin.
I prefer thick as the coverage is better and more controlled application than thin and runny.
Both colors are 2 coats as a base and one on tips
Try not to notice my frenchy flaws...they were too fun for me to mind
Nubar really does some of the best pastels and these are no exception.
Dry time was much faster than I expected and the opacity is pastel perfect!
