Coffin Manicure??

Some people are calling this the Louboutin mani but I must argue that.
First this style of mani was around in the 40's before this lovely shoe.

I was not about to file my strong healthy nails into points for the sake of style, because well I couldn't care less about "fashion" or labels and I'm definitly not a designer kind of girl.
I did my version which reminds me of a beautiful old coffin. (Did I mention my love of coffins?)

We are lacking sunshine today so my pictures are not as good as I would have hoped.

It's so hard to get a picture that really captures both sides.

Oh look at that shrinkage...someone needs to thin their Seche Vite.

I used China Glaze Xtreme Thrash for the underside and Wet n wild black for the top.
I warn any who want to attempt this one that you will want to have a stiff brush and acetone handy as clean up is an absolute. But worth it in my opinion.
There is nothing better than an interesting Vampy manicure!

  1. Ohh I love it. That is a great idea. I dont think I'm quite long enough for this kind of mani just yet. The black is so creamy and gloss just a perfect mani all around!

  2. That is so cool; I am going to try this when I grow out my nails some more!

  3. Jess- I think you are nearly long enough.
Wet n Wild black is "The" Black nail polish in my opinion!

gildedangel- I want to see pictures when you do it! :)

  4. I hate how one of my nails always breaks just before I'd be able to do this type of mani. Looks great on you though

  5. S- Have you tried using silk wraps when you get a break or tear? They are pretty easy and will mend a break until your nail grows out.

  6. I love how that loooks on you! I wish that I could stand my nails being longer. You couldn't see the undersides of mine!

  7. Ahhh! Your nails are perfect for this!

  8. Just beautiful! I could do this but mine aren't as long as yours. Polish under my nails creeps me out. I just don't like the feeling. You love coffins? I'm interested in the funeral industry and all that it encompases. I had my horoscope done when I was about 17. It said I like the dark side of life. I prefer to walk on the dark side of the street. I was strange from a young age. I wish I still had the horoscope.

  9. I have been thinking about doing this type of manicure for awhile. It's beautiful on you! I would like to pick up a set of those slip on nail soakers before attempting the look!

  11. Phyrra- Thanks! I'm the same in reverse I cannot wear mine short no matter how cute certain colors look on nubbins.

    Cindy- Thank you!

Lucy- I had to very precisly do the underside or it would have driven me nuts.
I knew you where one of my kind Lucy! :)

Diana- Thank You lovie! I am not looking forward to removing it, I know all the little red remnants will drive me insane.

Danielle- Red and black tug at my heart strings too! I'm thinking I could DIY my own non designer version. I'm such a cheap bish!

  19. I LOVE Louboutin shoes, but I think this mani sunds better as ''coffin'' mani. :) I like it, but never tried it on my nails, 'cause they're too short. It looks gorgeous on you though. It must be so messy... I don't even want to think about it. :)

P.S.: Now you've reminded me to take my coffin shaped purse for a walk. :)

  20. Thriszha- I wanna see pictures!

Nihrida- Messy...oh yes, very and clean up was a PITA but the fun is later today when I try to get all that red nail polish out from under my nails.
I have tried to get a coffin purse several times but for some reason it never happens. :(

  22. Love this! It's definitely a good look for long nails.
Best thing I got from today's post though is the Seche Tip. So thank you for that! I'm just rejoining the nail polish frenzy and am loving all the new tech that's come along since I was out there doing other things. I just love finding other women who are as into nail polish I am. :)
I wish my nails could be this long, but I am clumsy and I work in an office and typing with fingernails is a bit difficult. (but I'm LEARNING!)

  23. It sort of reminds of the "red velvet lines the black box" line from Bauhaus' "Bela Lugosi's Dead".

  24. I love this one! Sadly I will never be able to deal with having my nails long enough to carry this off (can't type when they get to half a centimetre, and most of my work involves typing - maybe when I can afford voice software) but it looks great on you.
