Big Fat Angry Rant!!! (Not polish/beauty related)

If you follow me on Twitter you've probably
seen my "I'm so stressed out tweets". I have now passed stressed and am now pissed!
Most of you know that I have my own Indie cosmetics line Evil Shades. I literally started this business with $100 and an ebay account (19 months ago) well it started doing well enough that I decided to start a website just for Evil Shades. I bought a package on Webs.com in Aug. of last year and set up shop. The website was not very fancy and ES had grown enough that I felt like I needed a more professional bigger site. So I started looking for Hosts and asking people who they used etc. I narrowed it down to 4 that were in my price range and seemed pretty reliable. I emailed all 4 with the same questions:
What kind of tech support to you offer?
What is your turnaround time on tech repairs?
Do you charge above the set hosting fee to transfer my domain name?
Do you offer suite builders that have a good range of templates and can build a store with shopping cart by someone who does not know html and is techie challanged?
When the transfer starts how long will my site be down?

You can go look at my very expensive piece of crap...
Click on the big ass "button" in the center of the main page and then go click on store.
Grrrrrrrr! Insert 2 parafraphs of foul language here!

I got answers from 3 of them and chose the one that seemed to suit my needs best.
Fastforward Thursday of last week I started the domain transfer because in order to use their site building software my domain had to be pointing at them as host. I was told this would take no more than 24 hours which is why I chose Thursday as opposed to waiting until Monday. I have spent the weekend emailing, live chatting and forum searching and their site building software still will not allow me to log in and use it to build my damn cart! My MIL built what is up now but she does not know how to build or add a shopping cart and she has been trying for 3 days to do so including buying extra software in hopes.

I set up a little etsy store but honestly people don't want to buy that way. People feel more comfortable buying from a stand alone website, it seems more professional. So I have lost 4 days sales (I did have one sale but that was from someone who knows me and so we did it via email).
I don't know about my host but I cannot afford to go 4 days without pay. I am (my business) is the sole income for my family and it has only in the past few months been going really well. Now I'm stuck.
I can't even cut my losses and go to another host because I cannot transfer my domain for 60 days....I can't go 60 days with no income! I have tried everything and these people have given me no answer just the same bs of your domain has to propagate to our server....um I asked the geeks on a major techie forum and they said that is a croc it takes no more than 12-24 hours for that.

Then to top it all off we got served with papers that one of my husbands ex wives is suing for more child support because she found out that I have my own business...ummmm hello fat cow....get off your lazy ass and go back to work at you $45K a year job cause this bitch is not going to support you! P.S. Lazy ass piece of crap, being pregnant an morbidly obese does not mean you cannot work nor does breastfeeding a newborn. Tell your husband to get a second job if you want to sit at home with your new bundle of future child support. I support all of my kids on my own and have for 21 years with no financial help from a man or the government what makes you think you're so special!
Just incase anyone wants to jump on my ass about the child support thing I have 3 children that do not belong to my husband and I have never recieved one single penny in child support. Iwas a single Mom for 12 years starting at age 16.  I am not some new wife that's pissed about him having to support his kids. I love my step babies and I supportred them along with my own when we first got together while he was having a nervous breakdown. I have also paid his child support because well his responsibilities are mine as well. But I'll be damned if I will ever agree that any non custodial parent should have to pay so much that they cannot afford to live nor will I ever agree that a non custodial parent should have their support payments raised because the other party wants to quit working and stay at home with their new child that is unrelated to us. I think that if you cannot afford to stay at home then either don't have any kids or oh hey get a damn job like the rest of us!

If you are my new host....you blow and you owe me $800+ and counting!
(and whatever gray hairs and wrinkles you created)

I'm sorry for the rant and some of the language but not for the content as it is all true and this is my blog so where else can I blow a gasket and share pictures of shiny things!

  2. Sorry about your site, h ow totally unprofessional behavior!  I hope that it all gets back to working soon!

Your husbands ex should not get a penny more than she already does, shame on her.  Hang in there! :D

  3. Oh I am so sorry to read this post - it makes me really sad... and angry on your behalf. Keep writing them, phoning them and bugging them. In the end they will be so tired of you that they will do anything just to stop hearing from you ever again :)

Hope everything turns out great for you in the end.. and hey... does your shop ship internationally?

  4. *Hugs*  I hear you about the child support thing.  Chuck and I have been together almost 13 years.  His ex-wife is the laziest person on Earth and she doesn't pay her bills.  Chuck never missed a single child support payment or medical bill and she still never let him see his son.  Furthermore, we have reason to believe she pocketed the money that he paid her for the medical bills, because she was sued by the doctors' offices and clinics for not paying the bills.  Because she kept his son from him, they don't really have a relationship.  Its stinks!  At least now, the kid is 18 and Chuck doesn't have to pay anymore.  If she want money, she'll have to find some other guy.

  5. It rarely if EVER takes more than 24 hours to propagate a domain. I'm not even kidding. And I don't understand this 60 day rule? WTF are they talking about? Since when do you have to wait 60 days to change hosts? That's a load of shit, I'm not kidding you. Did you buy your evilshades.com name through an independent name company? I can go in and change your nameservers if you did and need help with that and you buy a new hosting package.
This whole situation is beyond ridiculous and it's completely unprofessional. I think if you change hosts you should name the company so everyone knows about this crappy service!
As to your hubby's ex - screw THAT. What does you having a business have to do with her? She SHOULD get a job! FFS the rest of us have to right?
I am so sorry you're dealing with all of this at once. *huge hugs*
Email me if you want! Please, I mean that.

  6. Oh wow. Sorry to hear about this. I agree to keep calling and emailing and please don't take no for an answer.  Unfortunately, sometimes you have to be aggressive to get the things that you need.

I hope it's straightened out really soon :(

  7. Oh, so that was it. I actually browsed around the indie make up company sites today and noticed your layout has been changed and then that it didn't work. Was supposed to try out later but apparently, no need to for a while.

I'm sorry to hear this, hopefully you get the site running fast and the child-support thing - hope she doesn't get a penny more.

Can you link to your etsy?  (I have "right in front of my face-itis, so if it's somewhere REALLY obvious, please don't hate me, lol!)  I've been wanting to try your stuff for a while, and it sounds like my order would be helpful during this cluster-eff you're dealing with.  :)

  14. Aww...sometimes bad things never seem to come one at a time, right?

But no worries, these will resolve themselves quite quickly :)
I think many of the blogger girls in the nail community can help you building a new  and proper website.
About the hosting company, they should be noticed that the propagte thing is known to be a lie. If said in the right way. I doubt they won't fix it.

And the ex...Hmmph...there are always some very lazy people in this world...I hope she doesn't get successful in this process...

    Best of luck !

  15. Positive vibes and love from me. Hope the site gets sorted, and you know that bitch gon' git her comuppance one day x

  16. Holy cow chickie!

First off, WTH is your provider?  Mine is super cheap and I've not had a single problem with them ever.

Second, I'm not sure how to say this without it coming out wrong.  She cannot file for more child support based on YOUR income.  Even if you file taxes jointly, only HE is responsible for child support.  If you CHOOSE to pay her, that's on you.  His job/his money is all that can be considered in a request for child support.  Trust me, this I know full well, unfortunately.

I sincerely hope all works out for you soon.  I know you've got to be going crazy right now.

What is it with cows like that who think they can stay at home and live off their child's support?  My ex-roomie was like that.  I had to go to court AGAINST her because of it.  I hated it, but she wanted the kids as a cash cow so she could stay home and get high all day. :(

Grit your teeth and know that you will get the last (evil) laugh!!!
    Hugs to ya.

    ReplyDelete
  19. The sad part is that she might be at home but she doesn't take care of those babies! If she cared at all about those kids she'd send them to live with us. I wouldn't complain at all about 5 monkies bouncing around here!

    ReplyDelete
  20. I know she can't get more but she can file for it and if we don't answer to it she will get it. So we have to hire a lawyer in that state because we cannot afford to fly there for court and he can barely leave the basement there is no way he could handle flying out of state.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Oh she'll get hers sooner than she thinks! I have very long sleeves and there might just be something up one of them. ;)

  31. No I origionally bought it through the site package I had with my last host and when I transfered to this host part of the package is another year paid for my domain.

  32. That is such BS! We haven't gotten to see his kids in 3 years! I don't say this lightly but I really hate that womanbeast!

  36. Oh god i am so so sorry Andrea! I really hope it gets sorted out soon. I want to make an order really soon, so should i just contact you via email about that? I'll send people a link to your etsy too :)
Your husbands ex-wife sounds like a complete bitch! She can't just demand more money because you own a business. Ridiculous.

Aw honey I'm sorry you are having a craptasic time.

  39. Aw man.  This really blows.  I sooo wish I was there in person, so that I could try to help you figure out the problem with the new host.

Also, fuck that crazy lady!!  With a splintered broomstick in the ass.  Like, for real.

  40. I'm so sorry all this is happening to you right now! As for the ex-wife, she can just go shove it. I hope this all gets resolved soon! *hugs*

  41. Yikes!!!  I don't mind buying from Esty, but I liked your store.  If this isn't cleared up before I can afford to buy some of your make-up I'll just email you.  That lipstick you sent was effing AWESOME and I feel comfortable spending money on it instead of over-priced store bought stuff. <3
And I'm sorry to hear that that stupid $%^#@ is trying to take money from you and your husband just because she saw that you had your own business.  What a low-life lazy *bleep bleeepp*

    ReplyDelete
  42. What a load of crap thats been dumped on you. That sucks! That bitch has no right to the money YOU earn. She needs to get off her own ass for sure. I have bought off etsy before and would do so again its better than ebay. I hope things start to go your way. Sending my blessings. Astraea1976

I'm so sorry you are having to deal with all this. I don't mind buying from Etsy at all. I've been dying to try out your lipsticks for awhile so I'll probably be purchasing from you soon. Stay strong!

    ReplyDelete
  44. Gosh that sucks! I am hoping that all is going to be sorted out very very soon. I can completely agree with You on what You have written about children and child care. Children are responsibility and You have to have at least some financial basis when You are strting with the babies and should not be clinged on others, let alone should not threaten others. What a crap.

    Hopefully better times come!

    ReplyDelete
  45. So sorry about the website. It is sh1t, I have to say. No wonder you are mad!

As for child-support? I have no answers. Maybe there should be a parent-panel who assess these things and come up with a sensible figure based on child's needs and parents' incomes?

    ReplyDelete
  46. I just looked at that website and it's horrible. I've seen a review of your lipsticks on Vampy Varnish a few weeks back and I loved the red one. If your website works I'll certainly take a look!

And a big BOO to women who are too lazy or too stupid to support their own family.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Oh honey! This totally blows. I'm sorry to hear you're under such pressure. This is what is weird with the American system, that parents are legally allowed to sue each other for child support. In my dear socialistic homeland the system solves all that for us... Wish you had the same security that would allow you to rest and let justice be done all in equality! And now I feel sooo bad for sending you to Claire's for me... :/ <3 <3 <3

  48. I built my online store with EKM Powershop, they are UK based so I'm not sure whether they'd be appropriate for you but the hosting is cheap (£25 a month) and the software is simple.  You can hook up a paypal or google checkout (or both) to it really easily

  49. U poor thing!  Yeah, working in the internet business I can agree...12 to 24 hours tops and everything should be updated properly and working.  Whata bunch of buttheads!

As to the child support deal, people like that make me angry!  My mom got very little child support for me (there was no way in hell she was gonna allow him to have visitation rights...let's just say he was not a good guy and I'll fill u in on the other details later, privately) and she never dreamed of asking for more when he remarried!  I am HIS responsibility, not his new wife's!  Your income should have absolutely nothing to do with anything!

  50. So sorry your having such a horrible time.  I know what a good person you are.  You take care of everyone and don't deserve this.  Some people don' deserve to be parents.  The law is on your side but the bad thing is your having to put out money to settle this in court.  What a rotten person.  I pray everything will resolve to your satisfaction.  Computer problems are frustrating.  I get annoyed when my computer is slow.  I can't imagine the frustration and anger at trying to get a website up.  Hope it works out soon.

  52. That is complete and total crap that she thinks she should get more money because you (who aren't even biologically related to her child) have a business of your own!  The only claim she has in any way shape or form is on the father (y'know, the guy who chose to have sex with her), and only the father, not anyone he happens to marry later on.  For her to file based on your business is like her saying that you owe her for getting married to a man she'd already divorced!

Yes, when you married him you made the choice to stand with him and for any problems or issues or anything either of you have to be yours together, but your hub and her are the only ones with a legal obligation to the child, and no matter how much you love them or enjoy when they come visit, or how much they love you and think of you like their second (and possibly better) mom, it does not give her any kind of BS claim on your income.

My heart goes out to you for what you're going through right now.

  53. I'm so sorry to add more bad news, but the Contact Me link on your website isn't working (at least, it isn't for me).  It opens Outlook, but there isn't an email address filled out in the "To:" bar, so people who've gone to your website can't contact you that way.  : (

  54. WHAT. Here in Texas, when we were setting up child support for my son, his father's wife's income was NEVER introduced in court - and rightly so!  It's not HER responsibility to account for HIS child... I KNOW she makes more than he does, but SHE also has three children to take care of...  Ugh, I hope things get better for you soon.

Also, I use http://www.ace-host.net since 2004 and NEVER have problems.  However, I've never used a website template and I'm not sure if they have any.

  56. Hey hun-I really think and hope that they cannot count your income.  I know in CA they can't.  My husband & I have been through this twice and both times I had all sorts of paperwork and expense sheets to fill out.  This subject really get me going, so if you need my help, ley me know!
