R.I.P. Ronnie James Dio 7-10-1942 to 5-16-2010
It is through tears I write this post.
For 30+ years I have listened to Ronnie James Dio.
He was my introduction to metal. My Dad and I loved Dio and together we enjoyed many concerts, LP's, CD's and any Dio we could get our hands on. I shared my love for his music with my own children.
It is hard to lose a hero even if you never personally knew them. It truly feels like I've lost a family member.
My heart is shattered as I know are many.
I send my heart felt sorrow to Wendy and the friends and family of Ronnie.
We loved him very much and will miss him dearly!
He will always be our Rainbow in the dark!
Beautiful post, I'm crying with you, R.I.P. Ronnie \m/
ReplyDeleteRIP Dio, Hugs to you.
ReplyDeleteSuch a shame. That song was my jam back in the day.
ReplyDeleterip DIO he had some great music cuz i like all types rocking up in heaven i've heard they have THE best house band
ReplyDeleteMy father is the reason I listen to metal nowadays and I was in Dio gig with him.
ReplyDeleteHis music will never die. May he rest in peace.
RIP Dio :'(

ReplyDeleteSo sad. It's strange, because I just saw the video for "Rainbow in the Dark" last night, and I was wondering if he was doing okay.
ReplyDeleteI am just so heartbroken right now. I'm listening to everything from Elf to Heaven and Hell and I just keep crying. He was my hero.
ReplyDeleteI heard about it at work....this is pretty much the worst news I've had since I found out you couldn't come down for my wedding....
ReplyDeleteRIP Dio.
Too many AMAZING voices in metal are dying this year. I hope the Gods won't take anymore to Valhalla this year... :'(
ReplyDeleteI can't believe this! He was one of my heroes, I loved Black Sabbath with him, I loved and still love rainbow and Dio... this is so sad. So sad... R.I.P. Ronnie :'(
ReplyDelete:( :( :( RIP
ReplyDeleteYes Evil Angel, You are right, His music (done wherever and under whatever name) is addictive... :( I am sorry that my child will only know Him, Peter and other great musicians as "Once lived a great man..."
ReplyDeleteSomeone needs to tell them to stop taking our music away!
ReplyDeleteHug
ReplyDeleteHe has been one of my musical heros for as long as I can remember music. :'(
ReplyDeleteI understand the gods want good metal too but come on why can't they take some of those crap bands and leave us metalheads something.
ReplyDeleteI knew you would be upset, you've been listening to Dio since before you were born. I know it doesn't make it better but I saved a bottle of my Rainbow in the dark polish for you.
ReplyDelete((Big hugs))
Love, Mom
We've been spinning or Elf and Rainbow vinyl. My heart hurts!
ReplyDeleteThis morning before we heard the news my husband was jammin' on guitar to Dio and for the first time he nailed the entire Holy Diver cd.
ReplyDelete(~_~)\m/
ReplyDeleteHis stage presence was like no other. He was/is The Man on the silver mountain!
ReplyDeleteI'm surprised to see how many polish addicts enjoy hard'n'heavy music :)
ReplyDelete(*off to listen to Holy Driver till her ears start to bleed*)
Man. Seems like we are losing so many great artists. Are there new ones to fill these big shoes? I'm not sure.
ReplyDeleteI was so shocked to hear of this. Your so right about crap bands. Why are they still here? I love most music and I don't know many metal bands. I do know of Dio and probably know many of his songs I just don't know titles anymore. I don't know what happened to my brain. Once I passed 40 my remembering of groups and song titles has disappeared. I can't even understand lyrics anymore. I feel like my head is empty. I'm very grouchy and miserable today. I haven't been on the blogs much. I also haven't been sleeping too much either. Hearing news like this doesn't help.
ReplyDeleteI wish I would have gotten a bottle of this when you first announced it. A rock legend is gone and the world weeps. Well, my world does...this mani rocks like Dio though, it's an awesome tribute.
ReplyDeleteI was so sad to hear about this...he truly was a legend.
